Samanta Schweblin

Samanta Schweblin (Buenos Aires – 1978) es egresada de la carrera de Imagen y Sonido de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. En 2001 obtuvo el primer premio del Fondo Nacional de las Artes y el primer premio del Concurso Nacional Haroldo Conti con su primer libro “El núcleo del Disturbio” (Planeta, 2002). En el 2008 obtuvo el premio Casa de las Américas, por su libro de cuentos "Pájaros en la boca", y la beca FONCA de residencias para artistas del gobierno Mexicano. Muchos de sus cuentos han sido traducidos al alemán, al inglés, al italiano, al francés, al portugués, al sueco y al servio, para su publicación en numerosas antologías, revistas y medios culturales.

English Resumé
Samanta Schweblin was born in Buenos Aires, 1978. She studied cinema at the UBA (Universidad de Buenos Aires). In 2001 she won the “Fondo Nacional de las Artes” and the “Concurso Nacional Haroldo Conti”  first place awards with her book “El nucleo del disturbio”, published by Planeta Publish House in Argentina and some neighbouring countries. In 2008 she spent part of that year in Oaxaca, Mexico, prize-winning with an artist residence scholarship of the CONACULTA where she start to work in her first novel. In 2008 she was awarded as well with the “Casa de las Américas” International prize for her second book of short stories “Pajaros en la boca”. That book was published by diferent publish house in many countries, inclouding Alemania (by Shurkamp), España (by Random House –Lumen), Italy (By Fazi) and coming soon in Hungary.
Some of her short stories have also been translated to german, czech, french, hungarian, italian, portuguese, serbian, and swedish in order to be published in several anthologies, newspapers and magazines. This last two years she has been invited for many congress (as the “III Congreso de Nuevos Narradores Iberoamericanos” from Casa de América, Madrid) festivals (as the “I Encuentro de Narradores Latinoamericanos” from La Habana, Cuba; the LITCologne from Köln, Germany; the “Litterär fiesta med latinamerikanska gäster” organised by Karavan Magazine, from Estocolmo, Suecia); and international bookfairs from Buenos Aires, DF-México, Gotemborg, Guayaquil, Quito, La Habana, Lima and Oaxaca.
